Blues’ Blueshirts get an extra day off due to Blackburn clash
The Blueshirt League is making sure that the Blackburn Tigers won’t have an extra weekend off from their regular schedule as they host the New York Rangers on Saturday.
The Rangers are looking for a 1-0 win to close out their four-game road trip.
The Blueshirt League has not had a bye since Nov. 5.
The next two games against the Rangers and the Capitals will be in Blueshirted territory, with a trip to Columbus set for the following day.
The Rangers will be without top defenseman Chris Kreider for the fourth straight game with an upper-body injury.
Kreider is expected to play Saturday.
NHL officials said Friday that the Blueshirting League will make sure that a team will be rested on Saturday in order to allow players time to recover from injuries and illnesses.
The league is also making sure the regular season ends on Saturday with the return of the regular-season opener at home against the Capitals.
The NHL has not decided when the league’s final regular-day game will be.
